Researching for Antique Roman Coins for a possible new collection I came across this. I know its a bit x-rated but I love them. They are sex tokens from the 1st century AD called spintria. They were used in ancient Rome to request and pay for different “services” in brothels and to prostitutes on the streets. Since there were a lot of foreigners coming to the city that did not speak the language the coins made the transactions easy and efficient.
